Five Companies to Develop DMB in Shanghai

Five companies, Oriental Pearl, Microsoft, Samsung, LG, and SVA, will form a strategic alliance to develop DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) in the Shanghai digital TV industry. Oriental Pearl has taken the lead to set up a DMB R&D center, while the other four companies will provide the center with wireless digital broadcasting technologies and equipment, including those for DMB encoding, voice, and image transmission. Oriental Pearl has laid out a five year plan to develop and promote wireless DMB applications.
